TOOR DHAL SAMBAR

INGREDIENTS

Dhal: Toor Dhal - 1cup

Vegetables: Onion, Tomato, Drumstick, Brinjal, Potato, Beans, Carrot, Coriander leaves

(Instead of all the veges you can go for only onion, tomato, raddish or okra)

Masala: Sambar Masala, Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder, Asafoetida, Jeera Powder, Salt, tamarind

For Seasoning: Sesame oil / Refined oil, Mustard Seeds, Curry leaves(Fresh/ Dry), Red chilli

Time to Prepare : 30 mins

COOKING STEPS

Step 1. Cook Toor Dhal by adding double the amount of water in pressure cooker and leave it till 5whistles. Soak the tamarind in water and leave it in a side. (If Pressure cooker is not available it can be cooked in microwave oven also but the toor dhal has to soaked in hot water over night.)

Step 2. Heat the pan and add sesame oil, once the oils gets heated add mustard seeds, Red chilli, dry curry leaves and then add all the vegetables one by one.

Step 3: Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder (little bit), Sambar Masala, Jeera powder, asafoetida and fry it for few mins and then close the vessel and cook for few more mins.

Step 4: Now add all the vegetables to the cooked toor dhal and allow it to boil and then add the tamarind extracts and allow it to boil for few mins. At last add coriander leaves before serving.

Now delicious Toor Dhal Sambar is ready to serve with Rice, Idly, Dosa and Vada.
